The cold spring is behind us, the bite is finally gone from the air, and my garden is growing at breakneck speed; it must be June!
Most of my vegetables and fruit are lush and healthy, like my peas,
Potatoes, and
Corn.
But the Kohlrabi is pathetic – germination was almost non-existent. I’ve waited a month and have 3 spindly seedlings, so I seeded the rest of the packet in there – now they’ll probably all grow! I’ll let you know…
My strawberries bloomed furiously
And are now setting a bumper crop
The raspberries look better than last year, though I suspect poor drainage is still an issue.
And my thornless loganberries are abuzz with bees
There are roughly 100 peaches on my young peach tree – if even half of them develop I’ll be thrilled.
In the greenhouse I have peppers and tomatoes setting up
And my egg factories are growing sleek and sassy, I wonder when they’ll start to lay?
Looks awesome my friend!!!!
Girl, you are so quick! I posted 5 minutes ago!
Blessed art thou, o ye of the verdant thumb 🙂
🙂
Your vegetable garden looks awesomely healthy with potentially great produce ahead! I’m envious cuz I haven’t started mine yet because of being ill. However, I live in a hot country, so I could start anytime. You have inspired me!
Are your strawberries growing in pots or straight in the ground?
Love the pic of the girls!
Thanks Barb, the strawberries are in the ground.
My attempts are pathetic in comparison. I went out to water my veg last night and there was a swarm of green jumping insects…I could have cried. They were having a right feast. If it aint the mold or the rust spots, I despair.
There was also a wormy thing burrowing into my tomatoes.
I am JEALOUS ok!!! LOL 🙂
PiP 😦
I’m sorry Pip, we have a few garden challenges here, but for the most part have a good growing climate, which helps immensely!
I think you ahve a whole army of green thumbs!
Thanks Pip, more like a serious obsession!
beautiful!! I love your veggie garden 🙂
Your garden is sure looking good. A trick with kohlrabi is to grow it under a row cover. I’m not sure if you have them there, but flea beetles will eat mine as soon as it sprouts, which sucks if you really wanted the veggies… they will also decimate radishes and rutabaga!
I’m pretty sure they just didn’t germinate – rather than being eaten. I don’t seem to have much trouble with flea beetles in this garden (so far), but I may need to cover them later to keep the cabbage moth from laying their eggs on them.
Everything looks so wonderful. One day I should try Strawberries. This year is the first time in my life I had plants live, lol!! WTG with everything. 🙂
Once you try strawberries from your garden you won’t want to eat those bland supermarket berries anymore….they’re so much better when fully ripe and warm from the sun!
Exciting! I can’t wait to see everything as they mature. Are the tomatoes and peppers still inside? I thought you were going to transplant them to the outside? I wish I had strawberries — the taste of freshly grown strawberries must be divine compared to that awful fruit we get in a grocery store.
All the peppers and some of the tomatoes are in my greenhouse, where they’ll stay for the season. A few tomatoes are planted in the garden.
Thanks Brenda, I can hardly wait to try this. Sounds delicious!
